Bemidji Friends,

Please help us support Citizens Climate Lobby by making a donation today! The process is fast, easy, and secure.

The purposes of Citizens Climate Lobby are to 1) create the political will for a stable climate and 2) to empower individuals to have breakthroughs in exercising their personal and political power.

In Bemidji, our local chapter meets every first Saturday of the month at 11:45 am at the BSU Library (Room 327). Every month, we meet together to listen to a nationally-recognized speaker, write to our local media & newspapers and build intentional relationships with our elected officials.

Bemidji's chapter work in tandem with the national non-profit, non-partisan Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL) to advocate for local and national solutions, especially advancing support for a carbon fee and dividend system. To find out more about CCL visit their website at: http://citizensclimatelobby.org/

Thanks so much for your generosity! We truly appreciate any support you can provide to help solve the climate crisis.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please give Brett an email at [email protected]

With appreciation,

Bemidji's CCL Chapter

P.S. For fun, here's an update about the next goal Citizens' Climate Lobby is shooting for and why we need your help!

A CCL Chapter in every Congressional district is our goal for 2014!

This goal puts us that much closer to our ultimate objective -- passing carbon fee and dividend legislation.  In order to be successful in this effort, it’s important we learn from past experience.

Theda Skocpol, renowned Harvard political scientist, has analyzed the 2009 failure of the Waxman-Markey Climate bill.  She believes the underlying reason this legislation did not pass was a lack of grassroots support for the bill.  Those working for its passage did so only “inside the beltway” with political insiders.

Skocpol is right.  We must have grassroots support to pass significant climate legislation.  And, as you know, that’s what Citizens Climate Lobby is all about.  We ARE building the grassroots political will to pass carbon fee and dividend legislation.

A crucial step to building the necessary political will is to establish our presence in all 435 Congressional districts.  We are presently at 235 districts.  With your help, we can add the missing 200 by the end of this year.

Your amazing volunteer work is crucial to meeting this goal.  We need you to keep having breakthroughs in your personal and political power.  We need you to keep meeting with your members of Congress, making presentations, reaching out to your editorial boards, writing letters to the editor.
