4th Annual North Wind Regional Conference

March Madness - Climate Action is not a Spectator Sport

Join us March 17-19, 2017 at the Iowa Lakeside Labratory on beautiful Lake Okoboji!

What: 4th annual conference bringing together CCL volunteers from Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota to learn, share, strategize, energize and more.

When: Friday, March 17 registration starting at 6pm until Sunday, March 19 noon completion

Where: Iowa Lakeside Labratory on Lake Okoboji - a research campus owned by the state of Iowa.  Here's a map of the campus and directions to the campus.  We encourage you to organize carpools with others in your local CCL chapter.

Lodging: Affordable lodging is available on campus and at the Lakeshore Center at Okoboji next door.  You must make your own lodging reservations separately.  See contact below for each campus.

Saturday, March 18

8-9                   Registration and Breakfast
9-9:50              Plenary—welcome, weekend overview, opening session with Mark Reynolds
10-11:45          Track one: Group Start Workshop for those new to CCL
                        Track two: Speed Skill session with topics: Writing LTE, social media, family                                      outreach, Group intro session, 5 levers of political will
                        Track three: Group Leaders and Liaison session (Mark R.)
12:00-1:30       lunch & group picture, morning reflection - table topics ex: group leaders - how to                               work with changing groups, nuclear energy, other suggestions for topics?
1:30-2:45         Workshop Sessions  (Topics: Reaching out to conservative groups,                                               Presentation skills, Using CCL Community, Endorsements)
2:45 - 3:00       Break & transition time
3:00 - 4:30       Climate Stabilization: Soil, Food & Farm
4:30 - 4:45       Break & transition time
4:45 - 5:30       Talking to conservatives and liberals and everyone - Thoughtful discussion on                                   building the skills needed to be bridge builders
5:45                 Dinner- Lakeside Lab Story during dinner, good news stories from the region
7:00                 Post dinner  “Stump the Meteorologist”
7:30                 Fireside chat with elected officials, global strategists and adventurers - Sen. Rob                               Hogg, Joe Robertson, Mindy Ahler, Moderator- David Thoreson
8:30                 Evening entertainment with music and games.
